Czech-Singapore Technology Days 2009
Main branches of the seminary were biotechnology, pharmaceutics industry and biomedicine.
Czech representatives demonstrated during seminar excellent results of Czech innovators and had introduced opportunities for cooperation in R&D, manufacturing or even in the field of education.
Seminar, which took place in Singapore, was consisted of four sessions:
- Session 1: Overviews
- Session 2: Diagnostics and Instrumentation Related
- Session 3: Drug Discovery Related
- Session 4: Biodegradable Polymers
The Czech delegation, comprised of 40 people from different fields (the public sector, national parliament, R&D, universities, high-tech companies, etc.), also visited Biopolis. Biopolis is the result of the vision of Singapore government, which decided to create a significant cost base for the biomedical industry and the environment, where at one point localized activity of public and private sectors. Completed Phase 1 consists of seven interconnected complexes. Two, called Chromos and Helios, are intended for biomedical research on private companies. The next five complexes (Centros, Genome, Matrix, Nanos and Proteos) hosts research institutions A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research). A*STAR, an agency of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, develops in other places also the sectors of electronics, chemistry, computer science and engineering disciplines.
