Czech-Argentina Technology Days
Argentina is one of the countries in Latin America with the most sophisticated Scientific and Technological Research historical capacity. It has three Nobel Prizes in the field of Science: two in the field of Physiology and Medicine, Bernardo Houssay (1947) and Cesar Milstein (1984) and one in Chemistry, Luis Federico Leloir in 1970. In this respect, it has a most sophisticated research basis in Science and Technology and for such reason it is a valuable and interesting potential partner for the Czech Republic. Similarly to the Czech Republic, Argentina needs to make more efficient the transference of its R & D to the economy and the market.
That is why the forthcoming Czech – Argentine Technology Days to be held in Buenos Aires on November 25th augurs positive results in cooperation for both sides. The following sectors are to be considered: aerospace, machinery and machine perception, biotechnology, energy, Informatics, artificial intelligence and robotics.
In the field of Information technology, Argentina has the highest number of contributors in the Spanish-speaking world to the web contents in Internet, as well as e-commerce and portal sites. Their software R&D capacity has been constantly expanding and today it represents an amount of U$S 500 millions US dollars. It ranks 1st in the world in terms of language contribution and 2nd in terms of software exports from Latin America to the outside world. From such viewpoint it is the most attractive and interesting partner for the Czech Republic in the region.
At the same time, it is the only other country in the world with which the Czech Republic has a joint endeavour in artificial intelligence, robotics and cybernetics consisting of a Biennale named “e-golems” i.e.: “electronic golems”, initiated by the Argentine with us, which has gradually developed since 2002 from a bilateral meeting in that year, and in 2003, of Czech and Argentine scientists, researchers, philosophers, social-scientists and artists to a Biennale with similar international participation from third countries, that has had two already editions and should soon hold its third one.
In addition to the Czech Technology Day, the Argentine counterparts have organized a meeting in the Argentine Council for International Relations, known for its acronym as CARI, that will take place on Monday November 23rd and that shall cover the new Czech Policy in Science and Technology and its emphasis in R & and its transference to industry and trade.
